Before starting to invest in the Capital Market, an investor must first have a Securities Account. This type of account is certainly different from those commonly opened or created by banking customers at commercial banks.
So, what is a Securities Account and its function for account holders?
Securities Account: Definition and Function
Securities Account is an account that holds and records the position of securities and cash belonging to investors (customers) in a Securities Company or Custodian Bank. The account is used for the purpose of transactions and depository of customer securities.
Meanwhile, Securities Sub-Account (SRE) is a Securities Account in the name of each customer opened by a Securities Company or Custodian Bank which is recorded in the main Securities Account at a Depository and Settlement Institution aka the Indonesia Central Securities Depository (KSEI). Apart from registering assets, the SRE serves to receive dividends from listed companies where customers invest their capital.
Customers who already have SRE will also be opened a Customer Fund Account (RDN) at one of the RDN Administrator Banks that cooperate with the relevant Securities Company.
Securities Account Opening at KAF Sekuritas
There are two methods in opening a Securities Account, which are offline and online. For offline registration, prospective customers need to download the Securities Account Opening Form (FPRE) and RDN Form which can be downloaded on the following page.
Prospective customers then fill out both forms accurately and send them along with supporting documents to the Office of PT KAF Sekuritas Indonesia (Treasury Tower 28th Floor Unit D, SCBD Lot 28, Jalan Jenderal Sudirman Kav. 52-54, Jakarta 12190). The required supporting documents include copies of KTP (ID card), NPWP (Taxpayer Identification Number aka TIN), and the first page of personal account book.
While registering online (Opening Account Online or OAO), prospective customers only need to visit the opening-kaf.bofis.id page and follow the instructions to complete the form and upload supporting documents digitally.
The OAO tutorial can be seen in the following video: bit.ly/TutorialOAO. If experiencing problems, prospective customers can contact KAF Sekuritas Customer Service at telephone number (+6221) 50123175 ext. 002 or WhatsApp Chat at +628118853175.
Initial Investment Deposit
After obtaining SRE, RDN, and of course SID (Single Investor Identification), customers can make an initial deposit of at least Rp100,000 by transferring funds to the RDN number. Customers will also get a User ID, Password, and PIN to enter the KAF ETRADE online trading system on the kaf.bofis.id page and the Neo BOFIS application on the Play Store or App Store.
So with just Rp100,000, customers can start investing! Make sure your securities and cash balances are not empty for 180 consecutive days as they will be categorized as Dormant Accounts and may be closed unilaterally.
Viewing Securities Account
If you have built a portfolio, then how do you see the contents of your Securities Account or SRE?
The method is quite easy by visiting the KSEI AKSes site through the akses.ksei.co.id page. Customers can register an account by filling in their full name, NIK (ID number), cellphone number, and e-mail. The NIK will be automatically linked by the customer's SID along with the SRE owned in various Securities Companies. Customers then only need to activate the e-mail and create a new password.
After successfully logging in using the e-mail and password, the customer can monitor the balance position and account mutations. With a careful approach and adequate knowledge, a Securities Account or SRE becomes a valuable tool in helping investors achieve their financial goals.
