The basic materials is one of the sector groups listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), comprising five industries.


Although there are five industries, the metals & minerals industry lead in terms of issuer count and drives the sectoral index most strongly. Key metals & minerals in this raw materials sector include:


  • Gold

  • Steel & Iron

  • Copper

  • Aluminum

  • Tin, Nickel, etc.


Other mining companies—such as those extracting oil & gas or coal—are classified under the energy sector. Many mining stocks serve as major catalysts for the overall IDX Composite Index (IHSG).

  1. As of April 2025, the average market capitalization of constituents in IDXBASIC is IDR 16.18 trillion, with the largest market cap reaching IDR 685 trillion—led by TPIA in the chemicals industry.
